hi, I'm Lauren
I'm an illustrator, painter and poet living and working on Kaurna land in Adelaide, South Australia. I work from my studio at The Mill Adelaide, creating digital illustrations + artwork in a range of mediums such as acrylic paint and oil pastel.
My work aims to capture, cherish and preserve the beauty, joy and peace of the natural world through all the ever evolving seasons. Working on nature inspired artwork means I get to spend even more time immersed in the places where I feel most joyful, and I hope that my art can do that for you as well - surround you with nature and inspiration in everyday life. I hope to keep nature lovers like myself feeling connected to the earth and to themselves even when they can't be immersed in the natural world.
I also love photography and my 35mm film camera is one of my most treasured possessions. All my artwork is referenced from my own photos, and I frequently peruse the gallery of images that I’ve collected from my adventures over the years, and find new inspiration in old memories. I believe that my creative voice is influenced most by my perspective of the world and the things I notice and choose to capture.
I am mindful of the earth I cherish, and work with various printers across Australia to create high quality products in small batches for you to enjoy. It is important to me that my products are printed in Australia so that when you purchase from me, you are not only supporting my small business but other local and Australian businesses as well! I also use recycled / compostable packaging and print my products on recycled paper where possible.
I have a Bachelor of Design (Illustration & Animation) degree and have been creating in many forms ever since I was a child. When I'm not creating, you can find me wandering through a garden, on a hike, playing music, or perusing an art gallery or book shop, filling my creative cup. I am most inspired by the vastness of nature, connection, memory, and train journeys.
